Similar to many healthcare facilities, the Veterans Hospital in Coatesville, Pennsylvania had the need to increase their system’s efficiency and reduce operating expenses. They also wanted to be environmentally conscientious and eliminate the CFC refrigerant R-11. To accomplish their goals, they chose Seiberlich Trane as their partner.

Seiberlich Trane worked with the VA Hospital to design a system that replaced the 1979 vintage chillers with energy efficient CenTraVacs using the EPA approved refrigerant R-123. In addition, we modified the existing primary secondary pumping system to an energy efficient variable primary system, allowing true lead/lag on the series chillers. 

The existing Trane controls were upgraded to integrate the campus on Trane Tracer Summit, providing Earthwise chiller plant controls algorithms to take advantage of chiller sequencing and chiller/tower optimization. 

The result was an energy efficient project that is good for the VA Hospital and good for the environment.
